Glennan Building Lab Renovations
01 Challenge
Case Western Reserve University engaged BHDP to renovate existing laboratories in the School of Engineering’s Glennan Building to support both research and education, provide flexibility and functionality, and increase enrollment through a positive student experience.
02 Solution
Renovations included the complete demolition of existing lab space and implemented new access from the enhanced corridor. For safety purposes, a new exhaust duct was routed through the building to the eighth-floor roof to allow for proper ventilation. Additionally, new windows allow for more natural light and views to campus.
Quick Facts
Size 1,200 SF

03 Results
The new lab is currently utilized for battery testing, but we designed it to be flexible in order to adapt to new functions/activities or house entirely different user groups in the future. The lab also includes a large open bay area which has increased collaboration among graduate students.
