BHDP Partners with Fifth Third to Bring New Branch to Avondale

A "coming soon" sign is shown at Fifth Third's new Avondale location

On March 12, Fifth Third and community leaders broke ground on a new full-service banking center in Cincinnati’s Avondale neighborhood, marking a significant milestone for a community that has been without a standalone branch for nearly five years. BHDP is proud to collaborate with Fifth Third, CBRE, and Triversity Construction on this transformative project.

Set to open in late summer or early fall 2025, this new branch is one of 15 Fifth Third is opening this year in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods and areas with high minority populations. The branch will provide essential financial services, contributing to the revitalization of Avondale, a neighborhood where Fifth Third is making a long-term investment as part of its Neighborhood Program, launched in 2021.

The new branch, located in the Avondale Town Center on Reading Road, will be a model of innovation and sustainability. Spanning 2,024 SF, it will feature an open design that facilitates both digital banking and in-depth consultations for services like mortgages, retirement solutions, and college savings plans. The layout will include flexible meeting spaces that allow for both privacy and collaboration, with an existing drive-up ATM remaining in the parking lot. Inside, a mural by local artist Soul Palette will celebrate Avondale’s rich history.

“We’re excited to see this project come to life and be part of a broader vision for community transformation,” said Chris Collett, Lead Architect at BHDP. “This design is focused on flexibility, accessibility, and fostering deeper connections between the bank and the community it serves.”
