Cincinnati Children's breaks ground on the Winslow Research Pavilion

Team members from Cincinnati Children’s Gamble Vaccine Research Center and Discover Together Biobank, joined by representatives from BHDP and Messer, recently came together to mark the groundbreaking of the Winslow Research Pavilion. This facility will soon house both groups and include a freezer archive for long-term storage of research samples.

BHDP leads the design team, which includes Heapy Engineering, Kleingers, and Schaefer. Messer Construction is the design-builder overseeing the project.

The building will be located at 2850 Winslow Ave., near the Interstate 71 interchange with Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The Winslow Research Pavilion will encompass nearly 45,000 SF and house about 70 current employees—including physicians, research investigators, research nurses, coordinators, data managers, laboratory scientists, and investigational pharmacists.

Tom Arends, Design Leader at BHDP, reflected on the significance of the event and the design process, saying, “Seeing the reactions from the Cincinnati Children’s team at the groundbreaking was a powerful reminder of the significance of this project. It’s inspiring to think about the impact this space will have as we collaborate to create a facility that will support critical research for years to come.”

The building is scheduled to be complete by mid-to-late 2025.
