01 Challenge

The UNC Health Rex Hospital Environmental Services (EVS) Department faced a challenge—space limitations were impacting the efficiency and comfort of its operations. BHDP was tasked with designing a functional, cohesive suite to better serve the department’s operational and organizational needs. A key focus of the project was creating a dedicated reception area for visitors and vendors, ensuring a welcoming and clearly defined space for all incoming guests. 
 

02 Solution

The design focused on the EVS staff’s functional needs. We designed private offices for EVS leadership and managers, creating a more professional and organized environment. A dedicated training room was incorporated to support staff development, while an expanded lounge area allows staff to relax, eat, recharge, and store their personal belongings. Additionally, the new suite offers plenty of storage space for equipment and supplies, optimizing the suite’s functionality.
